31-year-old man found fatally shot in Skokie

Skokie police are investigating a homicide after a man was found fatally shot Tuesday evening in the east side of the village. 

Skokie police responded to the 7400 block of McCormick Boulevard around 11:07 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of a person shot in the area, according to a press release from the Skokie Police Department. 

On scene, officers reportedly located a 31-year-old man near the intersection of Howard Street and McCormick Boulevard who had multiple gunshot wounds. 

Emergency personnel provided first aid and Skokie Fire Department personnel transported the man to a local hospital for further treatment, but the victim later died, officials said in the press release. 

“A preliminary investigation into the circumstances of this incident indicates that it was not a random act,” the Skokie police release said. “There is no known threat to the public.”

Skokie police will provide additional details as the investigation allows, per the release.

The fatal shooting marks Skokie’s second homicide of the year after a 21-year-old Skokie man was fatally shot outside his home in May. As previously reported, police recovered a vehicle reportedly tied to that murder but have not announced any arrests.
