City Council approves $20,000 grant to Braeside Market
Highland Park officials are pouring a fresh brew of funds into a newly opened Highland Park business.
Highland Park’s City Council on April 28 approved a grant agreement with Braeside Market that will award the new local spot $20,000.
Braeside Market will receive the funds as part of Highland Park’s Exterior Improvement Program Grant, which city representatives say “encourages the improvement and revitalization of the visible exterior appearance of existing buildings.”
According to a city memo, Highland Park established the current Exterior Improvement Program Grant in January of last year. The awarded $20,000 is the maximum amount available for a business through this initiative.
Braeside Market, located at 55 St. Johns Ave., opened earlier this year. The all-day cafe and market is owned by Highland Park resident Michael Weiss.
Per the market’s website, Braeside offers coffee, breakfast, lunch and retail offerings, including snacks, grab-and-go meals and beverages.
