Try to beat the heat with The Record and Pit & Tap on May 19
Time to test your tastebuds.
You like it hot? Hotter? Insane? The Record North Shore and Pit & Tap want to know how far you can go during Heat Check, a fundraiser inspired by the hit YouTube show “Hot Ones” on Monday, May 19, at Pit & Tap, 1168 Wilmette Ave.
Like the show, each participant will receive 10 chicken wings, each one with a unique hot sauces that is hotter than the one before it — ending with Da Bomb Beyond Insanity hot sauce on Wing No. 10.
Tickets are available now. Space and supplies are limited so lock in an individual spot ($75) or grab a group and book a four-person table ($275) for a fiery night in downtown Wilmette. We will open Pit & Tap (typically closed on Mondays) for the special occasion.
All proceeds will support responsible and independent community news from The Record North Shore, your neighborhood nonprofit newsroom that is celebrating its five-year anniversary.
Adding to the excitement, Record board member George Rafeedie will emcee the event with help from Editor in Chief Joe Coughlin and Director of Development Ryan Osborn, who will auction off pitchers of water and milk and offer other surprises to help you through the night.
A limited number of people can get in on this hot challenge; however, spectators are welcome to stop by and witness the devastation as your neighbors try to beat the heat. A limited food menu, including wings, and a full bar will be available to all guests.
The event is the third annual collaboration between The Record and Pit & Tap, a committed supporter of building community and community news.
Heat Check is one of five special events planned to celebrate The Record’s five-year anniversary. Stay tuned for more information on a summer wine night with Good Grapes in Winnetka; a film screening in Highland Park; a September golf outing; and a November fifth anniversary bash to cap it all off.
