Lenny Kravitz, Cynthia Erivo, John Legend, Kygo among Ravinia performers this summer

The sounds of summer are en route.

The North Shore’s premier outdoor music venue Ravinia Festival announced its 2025 lineup of entertainment on Thursday morning, providing details of more than 100 concerts — including 40 Ravinia first-timers — between June 6-Aug. 31.

You can view the full lineup on Ravinia’s website. Tickets go on sale to the public on April 24.

Big-name artists from a variety of genres will hit the Ravinia stage this season, such as Cynthia Erivo (Aug. 15), Lenny Kravitz (Aug. 21), John Legend (Aug. 23-24), Janelle Monáe and Grace Jones (June 7), Kygo (July 6), Earth, Wind and Fire (Aug. 7), Counting Crows, with The Gaslight Anthem (June 13), The Black Crowes (June 18), James Taylor (June 19), Al Green (June 28), Beck (July 23), Train (Aug. 2) and Ray LaMontagne (Aug. 30).

Additionally, this season reportedly will feature more orchestral performances than ever before. Chicago Symphony Orchestra (beginning July 11) retains its six-week residency and will partner with Beck (July 23), Erivo (Aug. 15) and iconic actor Morgan Freeman (Aug. 1) during that stretch. The CSO will perform with Ravinia Chief Conductor Marin Alsop, as well as Garrick Ohlsson, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Himari and Tony Award winners Sutton Foster and Kelli O’Hara.

The Breaking Barriers festival — which will for the fourth year celebrate women conductors with concerts, discussions, a workshop and more — returns for its fourth year.

Family events include Opera for the Young (June 28), Laura Doherty and the Heartbeats (July 19), “The Sound of Music” sing-along (Aug. 28) and Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga experience with live music from the Chicago Philharmonic (Aug. 29).

“Ravinia has something for everyone — classical music, rock, pop, R&B, soul, Latin, jazz, country, hip-hop, DJs, movies, musical theater, and more!” Ravinia President and CEO Jeffrey P. Haydon said in a press release. “We are grateful to continue opening our beautiful park for communities throughout Chicagoland to enjoy an evening under the stars with their family and friends, listening to music from their favorite artists and discovering new ones.”

Ravinia is well-known for its concert lawn space, where guests can bring their own picnics, including food and liquor. Other dining options are available at the park. For more information, visit www.ravinia.org.
