Gunshots fired in air at Glencoe golf course, police say

Multiple gunshots reportedly were fired from the course at the Glencoe Golf Club during the nighttime hours on Tuesday.

According to a press release from Glencoe Public Safety, the shots were fired into the air and there is no immediate threat to the community.

The department reportedly received a call at 9:39 p.m. Tuesday of possible gunfire near the golf course and responded to the scene but “could not verify any facts at that time.”

The following day, Wednesday, March 25, golf course employees discovered shell casings on the course and called police, said Glencoe Deputy Chief Andrew Perley.

Perley said the department’s preliminary investigation included a review of surveillance footage that showed a group of individuals walk onto the course, discharge a handgun in the air, and then run from the course and into a vehicle.

Several neighbors of the course, Perley said, also heard the gunfire on Tuesday night, and he urged community members to call 911 if they hear or see anything suspicious.

He added that the department has uncovered nothing to indicate the offenders were targeting anything specific.
