Skokie library evacuated, closed Sunday after bomb threat

The Skokie Public Library was evacuated Sunday afternoon after police responded to a bomb threat directed at the building, according to a news release from the Skokie Police Department. 

The release says that no bomb was located, no injuries were reported and the library reopened Monday at 9 a.m. for its regular hours. 

Skokie police reportedly responded to the bomb threat at the library, 5215 Oakton St., at 3:46 p.m. on Feb. 15, and secured the scene quickly and contacted the library security and administration.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Skokie library was evacuated and closed for the remainder of the evening,” the news release says, adding that Skokie police are investigating the incident and will provide more information as the investigation allows.
