Police Reports: Cars stolen, cyclist arrested for battery
The following reports were pulled from the latest incident summaries provided by law enforcement departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).
WILMETTE
Sept. 5
• An individual turned himself in and was arrested for allegedly possessing a stolen car related to a July 29 case out of Wilmette.
• A locked specialized bicycle reportedly was stolen from the 700 block of Green Bay Road.
Sept. 3
• Several items reportedly were stolen from an unlocked car in the 2300 block of Greenwood Avenue.
Sept. 2
• A bicyclist was arrested after reportedly touching a pedestrian inappropriately. The cyclist reportedly was later stopped by Glencoe Public Safety officers later that day and taken into custody by Wilmette officers. The cyclist was charged with battery.
• A bicycle reportedly was stolen from a garage in the 1000 block of Greenleaf Avenue.
• Jewelry reportedly was taken from a home in the 100 block of Heather Lane.
Sept. 1
• An unlocked car reportedly was stolen from a home in the 200 block of Dupee Place. Police spotted the car on the roadway and attempted a traffic stop; however, the vehicle eluded officers and was later recovered in Chicago, according to the report.
• A stolen vehicle reportedly was discovered in use during attempted auto burglaries. Police say the car, which was stolen out of Pawnee, Indiana, was recovered in Chicago.
• Jewelry reportedly was taken from a home in the 1000 block of Cherokee Road.
WINNETKA
Sept. 4
• A window pane reportedly was shattered at Winnetka Presbyterian Church, 1255 Willow Road.
GLENCOE
No reports between Aug. 27-Sept. 3 that meet The Record’s standards for publication.
HIGHLAND PARK
Sept. 7
• Merchandise reportedly was stolen from Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road.
Sept. 2
• Mail reportedly was stolen from a home in the 1100 block of Hilary Lane.
NORTHFIELD
No incidents between Sept. 1-7 reported.
KENILWORTH
No incidents reported for previous week.
