High School Highlights: NT girls bowling keeps The Pin, Trevs and Giants pick up gymnastics wins

BOYS BASKETBALL
New Trier 49, Glenbrook South 36
The Trevians took care of the host Titans in the CSL South showdown on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in Glenview.
Highland Park 72, Maine West 43
Gray Kanter racked up 27 points and Evan Mintzer added 18 in the Giants’ league win on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Pontiac Holiday Tournament
Danny Houlihan earned first-team all-tournament honors for New Trier at the prestigious event, in which the Trevians claimed fourth place.
Denym Wallace was named to the second team and Elton Jaegerskog the third team for New Trier.
Holiday Hoopfest
Samuel Golden and Trey Williams made the all-tournament team after Loyola Academy claimed third place in the Florida event with a 49-47 victory against Seminole on Dec. 30.
Golden scored 15 points in the third-place game for the Ramblers.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Glenbrook South 56, New Trier 44
The Trevians dropped the conference tilt on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Loyola 65, Naperville Central 49
Emily Naraky recorded a double-double (20 points and 10 rebounds) to pace the Ramblers to the nonconference victory on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Marycait Mackie added 13 points and 8 rebounds for Loyola.
Highland Park 57, Maine West 48
The Giants improved to 4-1 in the CSL North with the victory on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Loyola Christmas Tournament
Emily Naraky earned MVP honors as Loyola Academy won their host tournament, besting Richwoods 53-40 in the championship game.
Maddie Locke scored 16 points and Clare Weasler 15 in the title game. Weasler was named to the tournament’s second team and Marycait Mackie to the third team.
GYMNASTICS
Highland Park 121.3, Niles North 90.4
Maddyn Cohen (32.95) and Naomi Rago (30.1) finished 1-2 in the all-around scoring for the Giants on Thursday, Jan. 8.
Cohen won the vault (9.0), beam (8.0) and floor exercise (8.65) while Lily Fussle won the uneven bars (8.1) for Highland Park.
New Trier 134.05, Deerfield 132.85
Karis Park won the uneven bars (8.65) and Lucie Friedman and Elena Scarano the beam (8.8) to lead the Trevians to the CSL South victory on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Harper Jacobs finished second in the all-around (33.65) with a second-place finish on vault (8.9), fourth place on bars (7.85) and third place on floor (8.7).
BOYS SWIM/DIVE
Illinois Dual Meet Tournament
Teddy O’Donnell swam to second in the 100-yard butterfly and helped New Trier to second in the 200 medley relay on Dec. 30 during a special meet that featured a collection of the best programs in the state.
The Trevians placed third as a team.
GIRLS BOWLING
New Trier 2,149, Evanston 2,141
Emma Devitt and Kirsten Hedberg led the way as the Trevians won the rivalry match on Thursday, Jan. 8, and kept the rivalry trophy (The Pin).
