Skokie e-bike accident sends one to the hospital
A person on an electric bicycle was transported to the hospital on Monday afternoon after they were involved in a vehicle accident in north Skokie.
Skokie police and fire personnel responded to a traffic crash involving the e-bike and two vehicles near Golf Road and Keeler Avenue around 5:48 p.m., said Skokie Sgt. Brandi Shelton in an email.
Officers reportedly learned that a SUV was traveling north on Keeler Avenue when it collided with a van traveling west on Golf Road through that intersection.
As a result of the collision, the SUV continued northwest and hit an adult riding an electric bicycle on the sidewalk, Shelton said.
Skokie Fire personnel transported the struck bicyclist to an area hospital for “non life-threatening injuries from the traffic crash.”
All vehicles and drivers remained on the scene. The adult driver of the SUV was issued a citation for Failure to Yield at an Intersection.
