California-based Jenni Kayne is coming to Plaza del Lago
While many await Plaza del Lago’s future, tucked in one corner is another clue.
On and around Suite 27 is promotional wallpaper for Jenni Kayne, a California-based luxury clothing and lifestyle brand with more than 30 locations across the country.
The Plaza del Lago location, 1515 Sheridan Road, will be Jenni Kayne’s second in Illinois — its other at 912 W. Armitage Ave. in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
A listing for the Wilmette location on Jenni Kayne’s website says the store will debut in June and be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday.
According to its website, Jenni Kayne is “rooted in California minimalism” and offers everything from sweaters and shoes to wardrobe accessories, and also has a home-goods spinoff, Jenni Kayne Home.
The business did not respond to messages from The Record by press time.
What’s happening at the Plaza
Jenni Kayne is the second publicly announced new tenant, along with James Perse, joining Plaza del Lago under its new owner as of 2022, WS Development.
While open, the historic shopping center is currently under construction for facade, signage, parking and other improvements. WS Development President Samantha David told The Record more about plans for Plaza del Lago’s future in an exclusive interview in January.
Community members are eagerly awaiting more tenant announcements. Spaces are open with the departure of several former Plaza businesses, such as Yellow Bird Stationery, Chantilly Lace (both of which moved to downtown Wilmette), Cluckers Charcoal Chicken and Rosati’s.
To that end, WS Development has kept its cards close to the vest. David said in January, “There is going to be stuff that people love of all different price points — some high price points, some low price points, some local, some national. All different things. It is going to be a very eclectic mix.”
