Now Open: Hofherr Meat Depot and Fuel Fusion

It’s full steam ahead for Hofherr Meat Co.’s second location inside a Winnetka train station.

Local officials, friends and family helped christen Hofherr Meat Co. Depot during a ceremony April 24 at the Elm Street Metra Station, 754 Elm St.

A butcher shop and market, Hofherr Meat debuted in Northfield more than 10 years ago and its specialty offshoot inside the station opened in early April, giving commuters better access to Hofherr’s products.

Customers can order online or at the Depot by noon and pick up their order — from meats to soups to family meals — between 4 and 6 p.m. The Depot also has offerings to grab on the spot, such as Sparrow Coffee, Rare Tea, Publican Quality Bread pastries, and other snacks, like their special Commuter Chili.

Business owners Sean and Arielle Hofherr welcomed the local chamber of commerce to help celebrate their opening on April 24. Sean Hofherr thanked his family, friends, community officials and Hofherr’s staff for the new venture.

The Village of Winnetka owns the train station space and approved a lease with Hofherr Meat Co. in November.

You can now fuel up at a new spot in downtown Wilmette.

Fuel Fusion opened earlier this April at 1222 Washington Court in the space formerly occupied by the restaurant Fuel.

The Wilmette-Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce helped cut the ribbon on Fuel Fusion on April 9 and the spot opened a day later.

Fuel Fusion is a concept from Ayelet and Stephen Kohn, who are using American, Italian and Mexican flavors throughout their menu. To start, Fuel Fusion is open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. According to its website, the restaurant will begin serving lunch in May and dinner soon after.
