A French Start: Wilmette’s weekly market opens Saturday

Oh là là, Wilmette’s French Market opens for the season this Saturday, April 20, near the Metra station parking lot.

The market runs from 8 a.m.- 1p.m. every Saturday and offers a variety of fresh produce, specialty foods and artisan products from local makers. The markets also feature live music and new vendors each week.

Regular vendors of the market include: First Orchards, Jake’s Country Meats, Roedger Bros. Blueberries, Eclair Bakery & Patisserie, Treasure Breads and The Cheese People.

The Wilmette French Market is put on by Bensidoun USA.

Other local markets are still about a month away. The Winnetka Farmers Market, entering its ninth year, opens on Saturday, June 1, and runs through Oct. 26 in the Winnetka downtown Metra station, 754 Elm St.

Last year, the Winnetka market — a product of the local chamber of commerce — hosted 114 vendors and welcomed 40,000 guests. For more information, visit the market webpage.

Highland Park’s French Market and Ravinia Farmers Market start on Sunday, June 9, and Wednesday, June 5, respectively.

The French Market sets up in The Lot, 525 Central Ave., and offers artisan food and products from around Chicagoland between 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The longest running market in the area, the Ravinia Farmers Market, is entering its 46th season.

Beginning June 5, between 7 a.m.-1 p.m., it will bring live music and a plethora of vendors to Jens Jensen Park, 486 Roger Williams Ave., in Highland Park.
