Police Reports: Caller impersonates officer, car stolen from Stormy’s lot

These reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).

WILMETTE

July 22

• Two cones and a “Slow down” sign reportedly were stolen from a residential driveway in the 700 block of Michigan Avenue.

• A resident’s checks reportedly were stolen and cashed in an amount over $4,000.

July 19

• Over a three-month period, someone reportedly forged and cashed 10 checks worth $27,000 against a resident’s investment account.

July 10

• A resident reportedly was scammed out of $18,000 in Bitcoin by a purported business owner.

WINNETKA

July 30

• Two bicycles reportedly were stolen from Lloyd Park, 799 Sheridan Road.

July 27

• More than $5,000 reportedly was stolen from a resident’s bank account after an unknown individual used the resident’s personal information.

July 26

• A package reportedly was stolen from the lobby of a residential complex in the 500 block of Chestnut Street.

• A stop sign reportedly was removed from the intersection of Grove Street and Edgewood Lane.

GLENCOE

July 25

• A home-repair company reportedly failed to complete work on a local home but cashed multiple checks and stopped replying to the homeowner.

July 24

• An unknown individual reportedly called a resident and claimed to be with the Winnetka Police Department. The caller reportedly implied a warrant could be issued for the resident. In a warning to residents, Winnetka police said they are aware of the “scam” and said police officers and village staff would never request money or gift cards from residents.

July 19

• A locked electric scooter reportedly was stolen from the Glencoe Metra lot in the 700 block of Old Green Bay Road.

HIGHLAND PARK

July 23

• A car reportedly was stolen overnight from a driveway in the 1900 block of Midland Avenue.

• Cash reportedly was stolen from a car in the 1300 block of Sherwood Road.

July 18

• A car reportedly was stolen from McGrath Kia while it was being serviced at another location.

NORTHFIELD

July 21

• An unlocked car with the keys inside reportedly was stolen between 8:30-10:15 p.m. from the parking lot at Stormy’s Tavern, 1735 Orchard Lane.

KENILWORTH
