News Briefs: Writers Theatre to continue streaming shows; New Trier seeks nominations for alumni awards

Glencoe-based Writers Theatre continues its 2021 online programming with Anna Ziegler’s “The Last Match,” directed by Keira Fromm.

“The Last Match” will be filmed by HMS Media this spring in The Gillian Theatre before streaming online, according to a press release.

The Record North Shore previously reported the theater restructured its season plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With all the passion and tension of a U.S. Open tennis final, ‘The Last Match’ serves up a thrillingly theatrical look at what motivates our greatest ambitions and fuels our strongest desires,” the release says.

Single tickets will go on sale to the general public in early April, and will be available by calling the box office at (847) 242-6000 and online at writerstheatre.org.

Nominations for New Trier’s Alumni Achievement Awards accepted through April 9

Nominations are now open for the 2022 New Trier High School Alumni Achievement Awards.

Nominees may range from well-known alumni to unsung heroes, according to a press release from the school.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, New Trier and the New Trier Educational Foundation were forced to postpone plans to honor a new class of alumni honorees in 2021. The selection committee has kept all the nominations for the Class of 2021 on file, the release says, so any nominations submitted last year will be considered during the 2022 selection process. There is no need to resubmit a previous nomination. New nominations are being accepted now.

The nomination deadline is 5 p.m. April 9. Anyone may nominate a graduate through the school’s easy online form found here.

New Trier launched the recognition program during the 2010-2011 school year and has inducted 61 honorees, the release says. For more information and a list of past honorees, visit the New Trier alumni website.
