Safe at Home: Wilmette cops and firefighters play ball

11:06 a.m. June 16, 2025

The Wilmette community, along with neighbors and sports fans, gathered at West Field on Thursday, June 12, for the President’s Cup softball game between the Wilmette fire and police departments.

The fire department won this year’s trophy, extinguishing the competition despite the police department’s best efforts. The friendly showdown drew cheers from the crowd and raised $4,000 for two meaningful causes: Camp I Am Me, which provides a no-cost summer camp for young burn survivors, and Special Olympics Illinois, which supports athletes with intellectual disabilities.
