North Shore Exchange, Glencoe play starring roles in American Dream TV segment

Spam — whether email, text or call — is ever-present. It. has become second nature to ignore and delete.

That’s what Laura Greer did when she received an emailed message from The American Dream TV. But good thing for Greer and Glencoe the conversation didn’t stop there.

American Dream TV followed up with a phone call, which Greer followed up with some research and participation in an introductory Zoom call. Now, Greer — a Chicago-based realtor with At Properties-Christie’s International Real Estate — hosts a segment on The American Dream TV spotlighting communities across Chicagoland.

On Tuesday morning, Glencoe took its turn in front of the camera for an episode that reportedly will air in November.

“This is an honor that has been given to me and it’s my responsibility to showcase beauty and goodness,” Greer said as she explained her process for selecting communities to feature.

Glencoe was Greer’s second filming location, following Evanston in an episode that aired in September.

The first stop in Glencoe was North Shore Exchange, a nonprofit resale shop for luxury clothes, accessories and homegoods that passes on resale proceeds to other area charities. North Shore Exchange has three locations, but Glencoe is its original (2013) and flagship address, 372 Hazel Ave.

For the show, Greer interviewed North Shore Exchange founder Wendy Serrino, who explained that her organization has contributed nearly $6 million to grantees since 2013. North Shore Exchange recently held its 2026 grant-award ceremony, supporting 15 organizations, such as Family Service Glencoe, which offers mental health and social services; Nourishing Hope, a Chicago food pantry and mental-health center; and Margaret’s Village, which provides transitional housing for the homeless.

Greer discovered North Shore Exchange during the COVID-19 pandemic and said she hasn’t stop visiting.

“This is truly is my favorite boutique in the Chicagoland area. This is my go-to,” Greer said. “… I like quality and beauty and that’s what I find here, and the fact they give their proceeds to charity, that’s all the more reason to come. It makes me feel like I’m giving back — because I am.

“It’s just an extraordinary organization. It blows my mind how much money they’ve donated.”

American Dream TV hands the reins of its shows to the realtor hosts, like Greer. With her segments, Greer said she has three aims: to highlight a local nonprofit, the community culture and the real estate. Following North Shore Exchange, Greer and her team —which included videographer Ben Sloane, of Whole Heart Video — showcased the Glencoe home at 1236 Longmeadow Lane, currently on the market for $2.6 million.

American Dream TV episodes are available via the ADTV app available through Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, Roku, Apple TV and more. You can also watch episodes on the organization’s website, which also organiazes episodes by region. Look for Glencoe to be featured on a The American Dream TV: Illinois episode in November, Greer said.
