One injured when train hits equipment-toting truck in Wilmette
A train passenger was hospitalized Thursday afternoon when a Metra train struck a semi-truck at a crossing in Wilmette, according to Metra and the Wilmette Fire Department.
A Metra spokesperson said that at approximately 2:46 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, outbound train No. 337 collided with the truck at the Linden Avenue crossing near Green Bay Road.
Village of Wilmette officials said that one passenger on the train suffered a minor injury and was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the truck reportedly exited the vehicle before the impact.

The semi-truck reportedly was hauling a commercial street scraper on a trailer bed.
While other passenger injuries were reported, officials said, none required hospitalization.
Train traffic on Metra’s UP North line remained halted by press time (3:20 p.m. Thursday).
