Police Reports: Three dozen car burglaries in same area; scam calls
The following reports were pulled from the latest incident summaries provided by law enforcement departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth, Glencoe and Skokie).
WILMETTE
April 19
• Several items reportedly were stolen from a home in the 400 block of 5th Street.
April 18
• At least 14 cars reportedly were broken into overnight in a secure parking garage in the 2800 block of Old Glenview Road. At least 25 were also broken into in a neighboring complex to the south, according to Skokie police.
April 17
• A man was arrested for allegedly throwing a brick through the front window of a business in the 1500 block of Sheridan Road.
• A cellphone reportedly was stolen from a bathroom in a business in the 400 block of Green Bay Road.
WINNETKA
April 17
• A resident’s private information reportedly was used to deposit a fraudulent check for $990.50.
April 13
• A package reportedly was stolen from the lobby of a building in the 100 block of Green Bay Road.
GLENCOE
No incidents reported between April 8-15 that meet The Record’s standards for publication.
HIGHLAND PARK
April 17
• Nearly $1,000 worth of merchandise reportedly was stolen from Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road.
April 16
• Approximately $11,000 worth of items reportedly were stolen from an unlocked car in the 600 block of Vine Avenue.
April 13
• Items reportedly were stolen from an unlocked car in the 0-100 block of Sheridan Road.
NORTHFIELD
No incidents reported between April 13-20 that meet The Record’s standards for publication.
KENILWORTH
April 15
• At least two residents reportedly received phone calls from an individual purporting to be with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and demanding money related to a missed court date.
SKOKIE
April 13
• A car reportedly was burglarized on April 13 in the 8300 block of Kenneth Avenue.
April 12
• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime between April 11-12 in the 5100 block of Estes Avenue.
• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime between April 11-12 in the 9100 block of Lacrosse Avenue.
• Three cars reportedly were burglarized sometime between April 9-12 in the 9200 block of Gross Point Road.
April 11
• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime in the 8800 block of Kenneth Terrace.
• A car reportedly was burglarized in the 8900 block of Kilpatrick Avenue.
April 9
• A reported stolen car was recovered on April 9 from the 9500 block of Kilbourn Avenue.
April 8
• A car reportedly was burglarized in the 3300 block of Oakton Street.
• An car reportedly was burglarized sometime between March 31-April 6 in the 7200 block of Niles Center Road.
