High School Highlights: Hoops season underway and New Trier, Loyola and Highland Park net their first wins

The Ramblers powered past Phillips in their second game of the season on Thursday, Nov. 20.

New Trier 56, Stevenson 40

Emerson Buck scored a game-high 21 points and Vic Wainscott chipped in 16 to pace the Trevians in their season-opening victory on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Winnetka.

Loyola 38, Carmel 36

Emily Naraky scored 16 points to go with 12 rebounds as the host Ramblers opened their season with a narrow win on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the New Trier/Loyola Thanksgiving Tournament.

Highland Park 70, Grayslake North 48
Highland Park 49, Grant 39

The Giants started off their season with a pair of home victories on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 17-18.

Regina 38, St. Viator 37

Olivia Fraterrigo’s late basket, capping a 14-point night, lifted the Panthers to the season-opening victory on Monday, Nov. 17.

Judy Fabianski and Bridget Conway added 8 points apiece for Regina and Conway grabbed 9 rebounds.
