Police Reports: Lightning strikes, tip jar theft
The following reports were pulled from the latest incident summaries provided by law enforcement departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth, Glencoe and Skokie).
WILMETTE
July 3
• An unlocked car reportedly was stolen overnight from the front of a home in the 600 block of Forest Avenue. The car was later recovered in Chicago, police say.
• A home reportedly was broken into in the 400 block of Wilshire Drive, but it is unclear if anything was taken.
• Bags of merchandise reportedly were stolen from a business in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue.
July 2
• A bicycle reportedly was stolen from a backyard in the 600 block of Harvard Street. The bicycle reportedly had a tracker attached that showed its location in Chicago.
• Cash reportedly was stolen from a tip jar at a business in the 400 block of Linden Avenue after the alleged offender attempted to use counterfeit currency.
June 29
• A locked bicycle reportedly was stolen from a bike rack in the 700 block of Green Bay Road.
WINNETKA
July 2
• A resident reportedly was scammed out of $925 by an individual purporting to be with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
GLENCOE
No incidents reported between July 24-July 1 that meet The Record’s standards for publication.
HIGHLAND PARK
July 3
• A snowblower reportedly was stolen from the 300 block of Woodland Road.
July 1
• An iPhone reportedly was stolen from the 2800 block of South Overlook Road.
NORTHFIELD
July 5
• A homeowner received a citation after numerous under-21 individuals consumed alcohol at the home and an ambulance was called to the residence.
July 3
• A home in the 0-100 block of Regentwood Road reportedly was struck by lightning, causing minor damage but no injuries.
July 2
• A home in the 300 block of Thackeray Lane reportedly was struck by lightning, prompting a police and fire department response but no injuries and only minor damage.
KENILWORTH
No incidents reported between that meet The Record’s standards for publication.
SKOKIE
June 30
• A residence reportedly was burglarized around 5 p.m. in the 10100 block of Old Orchard Court in Skokie.
