Individual recovered on Fort Sheridan shoreline likely died by suicide, according to police
Local authorities recovered a body Monday morning along the Fort Sheridan shoreline in Highland Park.
Lake Forest first responders were dispatched at 9:52 a.m. Monday, June 29, to the beach for a report of an individual with a gunshot wound, said Lake Forest Police Chief John Burke in an email to The Record.
Burke said that the death appeared to be a suicide, and he does not believe there is any threat to the public.
The body was located on the shoreline, north of the beach, within the Jean and John Greene Nature Preserve of the Lake Forest Open Lands.
The Lake Forest Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation.
The body reportedly was taken by boat to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
