Wall of chocolate replaces cases of jewelry in Hubbard Woods storefront

A Winnetka storefront will still sell the finer things, but now, they’ll be edible

British chocolatier Hotel Chocolat has replaced Lana Jewelry at 912 Green Bay Road and will open at 11 a.m. this Saturday, April 4, and offer tastings, drinking chocolate, a portrait artist and a gift for the first 75 guests.

A few days later, Hotel Chocolat will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 11 a.m.-noon on Thursday, April 9.

Lana Bramlette opened a location for her line, Lana Jewelry, at the Hubbard Woods location in 2023. She is moving the store to Oak Brook, according to The Real Deal.

Hotel Chocolat was founded in 2004 and expanded to the United States with a Chicago location in 2025. The Winnetka location will be its fifth across Chicagoland.

A press release announcing the Winnetka opening says the “retail boutique” in Winnetka will offer “Hotel Chocolat’s range of premium chocolate, including its signature truffles, filled chocolates, seasonal collections, and thoughtfully curated gifting assortments.”

The shop specializes in gifts and occasions, such as an “over-the-top” Easter collection that includes the brand’s signature Ostrich Eggs, which are more than two pounds of chocolate, the release says.

Hotel Chocolat also features its patented Wall of Chocolate with more than 100 different chocolates, from salted espresso martini to tiramisu to raspberry.

Beverages — hot and cold — are also on tap at Hotel Chocolat, served from its Velvetiser Café.

Hotel Chocolat, the release says, sources cacao from Ghana and also grows its own in Saint Lucia, where the company partners with island growers.

“From our cacao farm to our retail shops, Hotel Chocolat cares deeply about making connections in the local communities in which we do business,” said Kelly Goering, general manager of Hotel Chocolat U.S., in the release. “As a resident of the North Shore, I’m eager for this incredible community to experience the magic of Hotel Chocolat.”

Hotel Chocolate will be open 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday.
