Police apprehend ‘persons of interest’ in local home invasions
Multiple individuals are in custody related to two home invasions in the North Shore, including one in Winnetka on March 8, according to information the Winnetka and Northbrook police departments provided on Saturday.
While police say more than one person is in custody, no charges have been filed.
The news comes a day after a midday home invasion in the 1900 block of Butternut Lane in Northbrook — an incident that reportedly occurred at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 20.
Local police say ATF, FBI, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, and Chicago and Glencoe police departments are involved in the ongoing investigation
“We do not believe there is a threat to the general public at this time, but continue to recommend vigilance and calling 911 to report any suspicious activity,” says a release from Winnetka police, who reportedly have increased residential patrols.
During the Winnetka incident, five individuals armed with handguns held an occupant of the home at gunpoint, according to community alerts sent March 8 from the Winnetka Police Department, and demanded “specific items from the home,” in the 700 block of Rosewood Avenue, which is near Spruce Street between Hibbard and Green Bay roads.
The victim reportedly was able to escape the home, and police were then called at approximately 5:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
