Victim escapes during Winnetka home invasion, say police, who search for 6 suspects

Six armed individuals reportedly invaded a home in Winnetka early Sunday evening after one of the individuals posed as a food deliverer.

The group held an occupant of the home at gunpoint, according to community alerts sent Sunday from the Winnetka Police Department, and demanded “specific items from the home,” in the 700 block of Rosewood Avenue, which is near Spruce Street between Hibbard and Green Bay roads.

The victim reportedly was able to escape the home, and police were then called at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Authorities believe the alleged offenders, who reportedly were armed with handguns, fled the area but they asked residents to remain on high alert and call 911 if they see anything suspicious and (847) 501-6034 with any information on the incident.

Village of Winnetka Communications Manager Josie Clark said no medical attention was necessary on the scene.

Winnetka police’s alert says the alleged offenders are believed to be males who were wearing masks and may have been driving a black Acura RDX SUV without license plates.
