High School Highlights: NT dance takes 8th in state; with 6 champs, LA wrestling wins regional

BOYS BASKETBALL
Loyola 66, St. Patrick’s 58

Sam Golden went 9-of-12 from the three-point line on his way to 27 points in the Ramblers’ big road win on Tuesday, Feb. 3, in Chicago.

Trey Williams added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists for Loyola (20-6, 4-2).

Carmel 54, Highland Park 44

The Giants (5-19) dropped the nonconference matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Loyola 65, DePaul 38

The Ramblers took care of business on Thursday, Feb. 5, in a semifinal of the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference tournament.

Loyola will host Mother McAuley in the championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in Wilmette.

Regina 35, Robinson 33 (OT)

Olivia Fraterrigo netted 10 points and Judy Fabianski 8 for the victorious Panthers on Saturday, Jan. 31, when Regina won its fourth straight.

BOYS WRESTLING
Barrington 39, Loyola 38

Niko Odiotti (113 pounds) James Hemmila (150) and Daniel Malan (157) recorded pins for the Ramblers, who came up short in the dual-team sectional final on Thursday, Feb. 5, at Grant High School.

Quentin Williams (106), Gavin Pardilla (126), Kai Calcutt (215, forfeit) and Mike Maddex (285, forfeit) also earned points for Loyola.

IHSA Class 3A Rolling Meadows Regional

Niko Odiotti (106 pounds), Quentin Williams (113), Meteo Hatzopooulos (138), James Hemmila (150), Danny Malan (157) and Kai Calcutt (215) all won individual championships for Loyola Academy, which also won the team title on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Daniel Myint (120) and Gavin Pardilla (126), both second-place finishers, also advanced to sectional competition for the Ramblers, as did Cooper Kemnitz (285, third) and Matthew Miralles (138, second) for New Trier.

GYMNASTICS
IHSA New Trier Regional

Elena Scarano and Harper Jacobs tied for second (9.275) in the floor exercise to lead New Trier to a second-place team finish (139.7 points, behind Stevenson’s 140.025) on Tuesday, Feb. 3, in Northfield and a place in the sectional competition.

Karis Park took fourth on the uneven bars and Zoey Junker fifth, while Jacobs also placed fifth on vault and fifth in the all-around for the Trevians.

Maddyn Cohen was fourth in the all-around for Highland Park.

COMPETITIVE CHEERLEADING
IHSA Buffalo Grove Sectional

New Trier placed third in the Coed-1 Division on Saturday, Jan. 31, to punch its ticket to the state championships.

COMPETITIVE DANCE
IHSA State Championships

New Trier finished eighth in the 3A (largest) division on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the state finals, scoring a 90.21.

The Trevians advanced to Day 2 following a 10th place result (88.68) on Friday, Jan. 30.
