Pedestrian among several injured in 6-vehicle crash on Edens

A pedestrian was hospitalized early Sunday morning when multiple cars crashed on the interstate in north Skokie.

Illinois State Police responded around 4:47 a.m. to the northbound lanes on Interstate 94 near Golf Road for a report of a six-vehicle crash, according to a news release from the agency.

A pedestrian on scene was struck by a car and, as well as other injured individuals, was transported to the hospital, police said.

The pedestrian was an occupant of one of the cars and exited their vehicle after an initial crash occurred, police said. Once outside their vehicle, the pedestrian was struck by another car, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said, and more information on the pedestrian and the crash were unavailable by press time.

Several lanes were closed for the investigation of the crash but those lanes have since reopened.
