Police Reports: Car thefts and burglaries, plus theft arrests

The following reports were pulled from the latest incident summaries provided by law enforcement departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth, Glencoe and Skokie).

WILMETTE

Jan. 3

• An item reportedly was stolen from an unlocked car in the 700 block of 9th Street.

Dec. 29

• A car reportedly was stolen overnight in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue. The car was found on Dec. 30 in Chicago, police say.

• A bicycle reportedly was stolen around Dec. 22 from a detached garage in the 1000 block of Greenwood Avenue.

• Jewelry reportedly was missing from a home in the 800 block of Ridge Road.

• Several items reportedly were stolen from a business in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue.

WINNETKA

Dec. 31

• A home reportedly was broken into via forced entry in the 200 block of Auburn Avenue.

Dec. 29

• A backpack containing a wallet, clothing and more reportedly was stolen from an unlocked car in the 400 block of Linden Street.

GLENCOE

No reported incidents between Dec. 24-30 that meet The Record’s standards for publication.

HIGHLAND PARK

Dec. 29

• Merchandise reportedly was stolen from Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road.

NORTHFIELD

Dec. 29

• Two individuals were arrested following a theft investigation that began in October 2025.

KENILWORTH

No incidents reported between Dec. 26-Jan. 2.

SKOKIE

Dec. 29

• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime between Dec. 28 and the morning of Dec. 29 in the 9100 block of Lacrosse Avenue.

• A car reportedly was stolen around 7 a.m. on Dec 29 in the 9100 block of Laramie Avenue.

Dec. 28

• Police arrested a 37-year-old man around 6 p.m. on Dec. 28 for allegedly stealing from the Macy’s located in the Westfield Old Orchard shopping center.

• A car reportedly was burglarized at 5 p.m. on Dec. 28 in the 7900 block of Kilbourn Avenue.

• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime during the early-morning hours of Dec. 28 in the 7800 block of Kenneth Avenue.

• A car reportedly was stolen sometime between Dec. 26-28 in the 8200 block of Keating Avenue.

• A car reportedly was stolen sometime between Dec. 27-28 in the 8600 block of Long Avenue.

• A building reportedly was burglarized sometime between Dec. 27-28 in the 5200 block of Arcadia Street.

• Two cars reportedly were burglarized sometime between Dec. 26-28 in the 5000-5200 block of Lee Street.

• A car reportedly was burglarized between Dec. 27-28 in the 5300 block of Suffield Terrace.

Dec. 27

• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime between Dec. 26-27 in the 4500 block of Church Street.

• A car reportedly was burglarized at 7:52 p.m. on Dec. 27 in the 9700 block of Skokie Boulevard.

• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime between Dec. 26-27 in the 9000 block of Kilbourn Avenue.

• A car reportedly was burglarized sometime between Dec. 26-27 in the 4400 block of Wilson Terrace.

Dec. 26

• A car reportedly was stolen at 1:15 p.m. in the 9200 block of East Prairie Road.
