Highland Park police arrest man at HPHS for trespassing, disorderly conduct
Highland Park make an arrest for trespassing at the high school Nov. 25.
Local police arrested a 38-year-old Chicago Heights man on Tuesday afternoon outside of Highland Park High School for allegedly trespassing.
The man also stands accused of obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to a booking sheet from the Highland Park Police Department.
City Communications Manager Amanda Bennett told The Record that police responded Tuesday to a call from the high school, 433 Vine Ave., about a man disturbing the peace and “creating a nuisance on school property.”
“The individual refused multiple commands from police officers to leave the property and was eventually arrested,” she wrote in an emailed response.
The incident happened on a school day with the arrest occurring at 4:53 p.m., the arrest document shows.
A video of the arrest The Record North Shore obtained showed multiple individuals subduing the man face down in the parking lot, as students and parents looked on.
Police said the arrestee, who had a warrant out of Cook County for disorderly conduct, was transported to another jurisdiction. A court date is scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 17 in Waukegan.
Representatives from Highland Park High School did not respond to The Record’s request for more information on Nov. 26, which is when the school’s Thanksgiving break began, and no further information was immediately available.
