Police Reports: Porta-Potty fire, Marketplace scams
The following reports were pulled from the latest incident summaries provided by law enforcement departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).
WILMETTE
Aug. 3
• A wallet reportedly was stolen from a car in the 400 block of Prairie Avenue.
Aug. 2
• Items reportedly were stolen from a business in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue.
July 31
• An individual with an outstanding arrest warrant was arrested after a pursuit in which the arrestee reportedly climbed into a drop ceiling in an attempt to flee.
WINNETKA
Aug. 2
• A resident reportedly was scammed by a Facebook Marketplace seller who did not deliver a Lollapalooza ticket.
• An iPad reportedly was stolen from a package delivered in the 500 block of Winnetka Avenue.
GLENCOE
July 23
• A motorist reportedly struck a vehicle and fled the scene between 9:13-10:40 a.m. at 675 Village Court.
HIGHLAND PARK
July 30
• Items reportedly went missing between January 2018 and December 2024 from a home in the 500 block of Clavey Court.
NORTHFIELD
Aug. 2
• Bags of cosmetics reportedly were stolen from Walgreens, 1825 Willow Road.
KENILWORTH
July 31
• A portable toilet reportedly was set on fire in the 500 block of Green Bay Road, causing an estimated $800 in damage. A responding police officer extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher and the fire department also responded, the report says.
July 29
• A resident reportedly was scammed out of $1,750 by a Facebook Marketplace seller who did not deliver the purchased item.
