2 deaths in 2 days in car accidents on the Edens Expressway

Traffic crashes on consecutive days in the same general area of Interstate 94 have resulted in at least two deaths.

The two fatal collisions occurred on Monday, July 7, and Sunday, July 6, respectively.

A wreck at approximately 12:30 p.m. at Dundee Road on I-94 (Edens Expressway) involved three cars and at least one death, according to Illinois State Police.

The name of the deceased was not available by press time (5 p.m. Monday, July 7).

The incident closed the expressway’s southbound lanes, the southbound Dundee Road ramp and Lake-Cook Road entrance to the Edens.

A day earlier at around 3 a.m., a four-car crash at Tower Road near Glencoe on the Edens resulted in the death of 32-year-old Alejandro Hernandez, of Chicago. A female was hospitalized, as well, police said.

Multiple lanes were closed for hours while the authorities investigated the scene.

The causes of the crashes were unclear as of press time, and Illinois State Police provided no further information as the investigations are ongoing.
