For the 2nd time in 6 months, a car crashes into Madame ZuZu’s

A car ran into the facade of Madame ZuZu’s Teahouse in Highland Park on Tuesday afternoon in nearly the same location another car did the same about six months prior.

No one was injured in the incident that occurred in the early afternoon Tuesday, April 29, according to a social media post from the business.

“Earlier today, there was an accident outside of Madame Zuzu’s involving a vehicle that struck the front of the café. Thankfully, no one was injured. Thank you to everyone who checked in and offered support,” the post reads.

Preliminary police investigation shows the crash was accidental, said Amanda Bennett, communications director with the City of Highland Park.

The business is owned by the husband-wife team of Billy Corgan and Chloe Mendel Corgan.

The crash six months ago — on Oct. 30, 2024 — was more severe. In that incident, Mendel Corgan’s mother and the driver of the car were hospitalized after the car crashed through the east-side windows.

On Tuesday, the impact cracked the brick wall as well as the window trimming.
