One dies in crash on Route 41 in Highland Park
An individual died early Sunday morning in a traffic crash on Route 41 in Highland Park, according to City officials.
A statement from the Lake County Coronor’s office says that at approximately 3:25 a.m. a Jeep Cherokee carrying three passengers and traveling south left the roadway in the 2300 block of Skokie Valley Road (Route 41), struck a utility pole and rolled over.
A backseat passenger, Cameron Faulkner, 34, of Chicago, was ejected and died from his injuries at Advocate Condell Medical Center, according to the coroner’s office.
It is unclear if the crash resulted in any other injuries. The City of Highland Park, which is leading the crash investigation, did not return messages from The Record.
The southbound lanes of Route 41 between Half Day Road and Park Avenue West reportedly were closed from approximately 4:30 a.m until 8 a.m.
