Tower Road overpass closed for repairs for 4 months

The Illinois Department of Transportation began repairs this week on the Tower Road bridge that stretches over the Edens Expressway in Glencoe and Northfield.

The major project is expected to last until August and the overpass will be closed for the length of the project, according to IDOT. Periodic closures of ramps and lanes of the Edens Expressway are also expected.

At Tower Road and the Edens, IDOT will repair the bridge deck and approaches, replace expansion joints, and install a new deck overlay.

The IDOT said motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes, such as the detour that is posted at the work site and involves Forest Way.

The project is part of Rebuild Illinois, which is in its fourth year and reportedly has improved $12.1 billion worth of highways and bridges.
