Police Reports: Rash of car burglaries in Glencoe and Wilmette, deck fire in Northfield

These reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).


June 14

• At least five cars reportedly were broken into and burglarized overnight. Three of the incidents occurred in the 0-200 blocks of Lockerbie Lane and another in the 3300 block of Old Glenview Road.

June 13

• A bicycle reportedly was stolen from the Community Recreation Center, 3000 Glenview Road.

• A bicycle reportedly was stolen from a home in the 400 block of 3rd Street.

• A package containing two iPhones reportedly was stolen from a front porch in the 1300 block of Elmwood Avenue.


June 11

• More than $4,000 in jewelry reportedly was taken from a home in the 1500 block of Hickory Lane sometime between Dec. 30, 2022, and June 9

June 9

• More than $2,500 worth of airline miles reportedly were stolen from a resident.

June 6

• A check mailed between April 15-27 reportedly was stolen, altered and cashed in an amount exceeding $5,000.


June 13

• A resident reportedly was scammed out of $800 after responding to a Craigslist ad for Taylor Swift tickets.

• About 75,000 travel points reportedly were stolen from a resident’s account.

June 11

• At least six cars reportedly were broken into and/or damaged overnight near downtown Glencoe. In at least two of the instances mirrors reportedly were broken and other damage was reported.


June 18

• A car reportedly was stolen from a residential driveway in the 800 block of Driscoll Court.

June 15

• A car reportedly was stolen from the Audi Exchange, 2490 Skokie Valley Road, after it was rented. The car was recovered in Milwaukee, according to a police report.

• About $550 in cash reportedly was stolen between 2:30-4 p.m. from the men’s locker room at LA Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road.

June 12

• Jewelry valued at $25,000 reportedly was stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Clavey Lane

• A catalytic converter reportedly was stolen from a car in the 1900 block of Sunset Road sometime between June 9-11.


June 11

• A purse reportedly was stolen from a car in the 400 block of Fox Meadow Drive after an unknown offender broke the car’s window to gain entry.

June 10

• No injuries were reported after a space heater reportedly started a fire on a backyard deck in the 300 block of Meadowbrook Drive.

June 5

• Mailed checks reportedly were stolen, altered and cashed.
