Police Reports: Wires cut on air-conditioning, plants stolen from front porch, more

These reports were pulled from police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe) from Aug. 16-21.

WILMETTE

There was one incident of Illinois Department of Employment Services fraud filed between Aug. 16-21.

Aug. 16

• A resident reported that three of their unlocked vehicles were entered and burglarized overnight in the 900 block of Greenwood Avenue.

• A patron of the Wilmette Golf Course reported their car was broken into and burglarized at the course, 3900 Fairway Drive.

• Graffiti was reported on the sidewalk around Hunter and Illinois roads.

Aug. 14

• A bicycle was reportedly stolen from the 900 block of Cambridge Lane.

WINNETKA

Aug. 12

• A resident reported a loss of $1,651 after someone reportedly used their credit card without authorization.

• A car in the 300 block of Linden Street was reportedly entered and rummaged through. No items were reported missing.

Aug. 10

• A resident in the 300 block of Linden Street reported that between July 30 and Aug. 10 someone entered their home and damaged a door.

Aug. 9

• A village employee reported that between June 21-Aug. 9 the wires to the air-conditioning unit at the Winnetka Metra station were reportedly cut, resulting in a loss of $400.

NORTHFIELD

Aug. 15

• A resident reportedly saw in their home-security footage a male subject enter their car at 4:45 a.m.; however, nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.

Aug. 14

• Three potted plants worth between $80-$90 were reportedly taken from a home in the 1000 block of Arbor Lane.

Aug. 12

• A resident reportedly responded to a fraudulent texter purporting to be from the Secretary of State’s Office.

Aug. 11

• A business in the 1700 block of Harding Road reported there had been two unauthorized attempts to cash checks from the business.

GLENCOE

Aug. 16

• A resident reportedly responded to a fraudulent texter purporting to be from the Secretary of State’s Office.

Aug. 15

• Red paint was reportedly spilled in the bathroom at the Glencoe Metra station, 724 Old Green Bay Road.

Aug. 11

• A resident reported that an unknown offender forged and cashed a check for $1,000. The resident told police, however, they were not missing any checks.
