Police Reports: Alleged sidewalk attack, gift card and mortgage scams, and more

These reports were pulled from police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe) during the week of Sunday-Saturday, May 2-8.

Wilmette:

May 3

• A sailboat hull was reported stolen at 100 Lake Avenue.

April 27 and May 4

• In separate incidents, two individuals reported being victimized by fraud after sending gift cards to an unknown party.

Winnetka:

April 29

• While two women were walking, an unknown male approached them from behind, slapped one victim on the buttocks, threw unknown liquid from his thermos onto the second victim and then fled around 5:05 p.m. in the 1000 block of Westmoor Road. He was described by victims as 5-foot-10-inches, slender build, early 20’s, wearing a black-hooded sweater, black pants and a black cloth face mask. Police responded to the area but were unable to locate him.

April 26

• An individual reported a loss of $5,000 after an individual allegedly with a financial company requested via mail between February and April recurring mortgage payments.
