112 Thanksgiving meals find those in need thanks to New Trier Township

New Trier Township staff and volunteers masked up and got to work over the weekend to ensure a longstanding tradition remained intact during COVID-19.

With no contact, the Township distributed 112 Thanksgiving meals on Monday, Nov. 23, at Winnetka Presbyterian Church.

State limitations to indoor gatherings pushed the annual event outdoors to the parking lot of the church, where recipients drove up and waited for volunteers to place the meals in their trunks.

Thanks to community donations, the Township’s food pantry collected enough rations to help three nonprofit group homes for individuals with developmental challenges: Glenkirk, Clearbrook and Lambs Farm.
