Launch party to celebrate, raise funds for The Record
Local news is back for the North Shore, and it’s time to celebrate.
The Record North Shore is marking the occasion with a virtual launch party and fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 15.
“We are so excited and proud to restore North Shore local news that we just have to celebrate. … So plan accordingly for a night of fun, laughter and more as we celebrate The Record’s launch,” it reads on the event web page.
All are invited to the event, which will be hosted live online by Editor in Chief Joe Coughlin and Senior Editor Martin Carlino, and tickets can be acquired by donating any dollar amount to The Record, a nonprofit newsroom.
A donation of at least $20 gets guests entrants into a number of raffles and giveaways, while all guests can enjoy a night of comedy, music and other fun.
Entertainment will be provided by comedians Bobby Tessel and Peter Lipsey, of Wilmette. Talented sisters and singers Jaiden and Evie Hsu, of Wilmette, will perform a set, and Winnetka restaurant 501 Local will offer a mixology demo for those at home.
Another major part of the fundraiser is the online auction, which features a variety of once-in-a-lifetime offerings, such as a year’s supply of Homer’s Ice Cream, one year of coffee drinks from Hometown Juice & Coffee, a puck autographed by Patrick Kane, a 2016 Cubs World Series package and so much more — with more being added every day.
All proceeds support community-first, nonpartisan local news by The Record North Shore, which launched Oct. 1 and is dedicated to serving North Shore residents.
