Athlete of the Week: 10 questions with Charlotte Dellin, New Trier soccer
Charlotte Dellin was a senior forward with the 2024 state-champion Trevians. She scored seven goals in New Trier’s title run and will continue playing next year with Fairfield University. Dellin also played basketball for the Trevians.
1. Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
Honestly, I never really have until this basketball season. It started before every game I would listen to the same three songs in the same order: “Run This Town,” by Jay-Z; “Power,” by Kanye (West); and “All the Lights,” by Kanye. And that carried throughout basketball season and soccer season as well.
2. Why Fairfield?
When I was going through the recruiting process, coach Dave Barrett was so communicative with me. It was awesome. It made me feel like someone wanted me to be part of something. I went on my visit and I met the team and they were outgoing and so welcoming. I never met a group of people so willing to let in a girl they never met before, even for a day. I am so excited. It’s a great culture they have going on there.
3. Do you have a favorite athlete?
I do actually. Recently I have been a really big fan of Trinity Rodman on the U.S. National Team for women’s soccer. I think she’s so cool. She feels like the kind of person I’d want to be friends with. I’m a big fan of her.
4. What would be your dream job?
If I could do anything, I would want to travel the world. If I had to work, I really want to be a sports agent or sports attorney for professional athletes. I’ve always been into law and obviously want to keep sports in my future as much as possible. … Being able to combine the two would be a perfect job.
5. What is your favorite personal sports highlight?
I’d say probably my state tournament run for soccer. Not really a specific goal or a specific play — there are a couple up there — but the whole thing in general was just awesome.
6. What is your favorite thing to do off the field?
I love just hanging out with people, I love being social. I’m a pretty outgoing person. My social battery does not last very long so once it dies I am a big fan of chilling with a book or watching a TV show.
7. What TV show are you really into right now?
Right now, I’ve been watching “Pretty Little Liars.” In my opinion, the acting is not really good but it’s the plotline. My all-time favorite is “Gossip Girl,” 100 percent.
8. If you’re in Walgreens with a couple bucks, what are you buying?
Definitely a big pack of spearmint Extra gum and probably a Twix. Always with the gum and if I’m really feeling it, Twix.
9. What is something people don’t know about you?
Not a lot of people know that I’m really into photography and videography and digital editing. I’m not an incredibly creative person but those sort of things spike my interest. So that’s my one creative outlet.
10. What did this past season, ending with a state title, mean to you?
It meant so much. It’s hard to put into words. It was so awesome to be able to play with the girls I love and be so successful at the same time. It was so rewarding with the way we started out and the way we ended things.
